Paper Clips - Movie Review

The Movie Paper Clips is fantastic! I am not normally a documentary movie type of person, however this one is good! I would recommend it to all types of people, especially teachers, kid loving people, and people interested in the Holocaust.

Here is a small paragraph that tells you a little bit about the movie:

Whitwell Middle School in rural Tennessee is the setting for this documentary about an extraordinary experiment in Holocaust education. Struggling to grasp the concept of 6 million Holocaust victims, the students decide to collect 6 million paper clips to better understand the enormity of the calamity. The film details how the students met Holocaust survivors from around the world and how the experience transformed them and their community.

So if you are interested in watching it you can borrow the one I have rented if you would like. Just let me know!

3 Chords

Well the last two days we had parent/teacher conferences at work. Man were they a blast --it's my favorite part of my job!! Ok not really it is the 3% of my job that I can't stand, for many reasons. The main reason is that I have to sit down almost all day at a table and wait for parents to stop by and talk to me.
Well anyways the fun part of the conferences was that I learned 3 chords on the guitar. The vocal music/guitar teacher was telling me how he has a few kids come in on Friday mornings to learn worship songs...which I thought was way cool...I asked him if he could teach me a few things. So last night I brought Yohs dusty guitar to work and learn 3 chords! It was fun. I still want to learn how to play the drums someday, but I think that is a harder way to lead worship with just one drum that is.

The Perfect Day

So lots of times people send out those email surveys and one of the questions usually talks about what you would do on your perfect day. Well today Saturday October 20, 2007 - was a pretty darn good almost perfect day for me I must admit. So I thought I would share my day and then afterwards I would say things that could have been added into it to make it MY Perfect Day.
Today: I got up early to work a basketball camp for 3rd - 5th graders (boys and girls). It is is so fun to work with little kids and getting to teach them some dribble moves, and watching them execute them sometimes even better than I teach them. It is fun to watch them dribble two basketballs at the same time and also crossover - yep both of the basketballs....it is super fun. After that I talked on the phone to my really great friend Johnny Mac. I came home and watched some college football while I ate a healthy lunch (280 days to Jamaica trip), then I ended up falling asleep for awhile - naps - love 'em. Then I sat outside for awhile with the pets, it was a gorgeous day here in KS. Watched more college football...Jayhawks beat Colorado, and the Buckeyes beat Michigan St. I typed some highlighted books while watching/listening to the games. Then later in the day/evening time I talked on the phone with a couple of my out of town friends and hung out with my roommate before she went to work. Then I watched the end of the playoff game between Boston and Cleveland. And now I am typing to my blog readers. So there it is ladies and gentlemen a pretty darn good almost perfect day.
Adjustments: Okay to be honest there are only a few that I would make. I would still take in a nap somewhere in the day, it would just be shorter. I would like to eat some of my favorite foods instead of being healthy...like Mexican food or a pizza. I would like to watch some KU jayhawks basketball, and the lady volunteers basketball. I would see more of my friends in the day and Parker - my adorable godson. I would have gotten a run in or a workout..while I was doing either of those or both I would be also spending some time with the Lord, I love talking to Him when I am running!
So there it is- - now if I could just get those things to happen on a more regular basis that would be awesome.

Here I go...

Okay let me just start by saying I never really thought I would start a blog, mainly because I am not sure if I will have things to talk about or have the time to keep it up. However my friend Leah got me hooked, I look at her blog almost daily - it is fantastic and she is a funny lady! Then some of my other friends started blogging too, so then I said if you come up with a fun name then I will do my best at bloggin. So here I am writing on my blog Maasenyourface....name idea credit needs to go to my gal Cassie!! Spelling of the name goes to Leah - -Cassie and I thought it would be maaseinyourface...but funny how my name just spells it for us!!!
So since this is my first official post I will say this please don't have huge expectations, I suggest going into the reading of the posts with no expectations and then it will be fabulous. :) I do promise to try to post at least once a week, if not more. And hopefully I will learn some more fun things about blogging and find out how to load pictures and whatnot - -- -maybe there is a book or website called blogging for dummies!!! Who knows, well that is all for this I am off to do another.
